Founded in 2013, Altitude expanded by adding a brick and mortar gear shop in 2016 in Afton, Wyoming focused on only carry hand-selected gear that we ourselves trust on our hunts and fishing trips. We don't ever plan on carrying every product on the market, but rather focus on gear we know you can use when your trip of a lifetime is on the line. We want you to have more success in the field and hope to inspire, motivate, and empower mountain adventurers to reach new heights and accomplish your outdoor goals.
Brad Carter is the founder of our retail shop, built from the ground up with a commitment to providing customers with the highest quality hunting and fly fishing gear. With years of experience hunting and fishing across many Western states, Brad has personally hand-picked every piece of gear in the shop, ensuring it meets the needs of both seasoned outdoorsmen and newcomers alike.
A highly skilled and seasoned mule deer hunter, Brad leverages his decades of hunting experience and gear knowlege to every customer interaction, sharing valuable insights and recommendations to help you find the perfect gear for your next adventure.
James Barnes grew up in Smoot, Wyoming, at the base of the Salt River Range, where he developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors alongside his family. With over 20 years of experience guiding big game hunts in the Wyoming wilderness—primarily archery elk hunts—James has honed his skills in calling elk and putting clients in the best position to succeed. For James, a day in the hills never feels like work; his passion for helping hunters find success is evident in his many stories of unforgettable experiences in the field.
James brings his positive, "go-get-'em" attitude to Altitude Outdoors, where he is dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and building strong relationships. His deep knowledge of elk hunting, combined with his commitment to seeing Altitude Outdoors thrive as a retail shop, ensures that every customer receives expert advice and personalized recommendations. Outside of work, James loves spending time in the outdoors with his wife and three children, sharing his passion for adventure with those he loves most.
