Blacks Creek - Remedy 7 Alternative 3000 Review - By Matt Eastman

Blacks Creek - Remedy 7 Alternative 3000 Review - By Matt Eastman

To start off with, I was very skeptical of doing this review. Over the last two seasons, I’ve strictly used Mystery Ranch packs. Unfortunately, I didn’t give other packs the time of day. When I received the Blacks Creek Remedy 7 Alternative in the mail, I quickly loaded it up with 50 lbs. of gear. Once I made the adjustments for my torso, and strapped it to my back, I was extremely surprised at how well it carried and distributed the weight on my back. In fact, and this was a complete shock for me, but the frame is a more comfortable fit than the Mystery Ranch Nice Frame. IMG_4457 The frame, known as the “Grip Frame” starts a solid foundation for this pack system known as the Remedy 7. Remedy 7 packs consist of several packs that will fit every hunter and backpackers needs. IMG_4504 The Grip Frame works as a pack frame for hauling heavy loads and also allows all the Remedy 7 packs to attach to this specific frame. The beauty of this pack is that you can quickly and easily detach any of the Remedy 7 packs from the frame. When it comes time to pack out your trophy, the Grip Frame can become a meat-hauling dream. It can easily carry and distribute heavy loads. IMG_4481 With the Alternative 3000 pack, you will find a very useful and innovative pack for the day and multi-day backcountry hunter. The main compartment of the pack features enough room to store a good amount of gear for multi day hunts. One of my favorite features of the Alternative pack is the main compartment access zipper found on each side of the pack. This allows for quick access to gear stored in the main compartment. IMG_4502 On the outside of the main compartment is an External optics pocket. This pocket is extremely handy, as it will fit any spotter, along with other pieces of gear that you will need to get to with ease. IMG_4497 On top of the pack, is a detachable lid. My opinion, a top lid is an essential piece of the puzzle for any pack, and this lid does not disappoint. With two compartments in the lid, you can store gloves, a hat, or any small pieces of gear. This lid with allow you to also cinch down pieces of equipment such as a sleeping pad, or a tent. IMG_4494 Some other key features include a gun/bow boot that with hold and carry your gun or bow with ease. This is a feature I’ve never had before with my other packs. It’s a huge advantage to have this option. On each side of the main compartment, are some side storage options that allow you to cinch down items such as a tripod, or shooting sticks. IMG_4457 The Blacks Creek Alternative 3000 pack is a serious pack that will flat out get the job done in the backcountry. With a ton of key features, easy to use compartments, one of the most comfortable packs on the market, and a pack frame designed to handle extremely heavy loads, this pack is one that I highly recommended for you next backcountry foray.
